The pendulum is a radiesthesia instrument: a small weight (crystal, metal, wood) hanging from a chain, used to obtain yes/no answers from involuntary hand movement. The practice draws on rhabdomancy (water or mineral search with rods) and, since the 20th century, has developed its own technical corpus in French and German radiesthesia.

How the pendulum "answers"

The physiological principle is the ideomotor effect: small involuntary hand movements amplified by the pendulum. Tradition assigns these swings a divinatory meaning. The most common encoding: clockwise rotation = yes, counterclockwise = no, lateral swing = neutral/not yet, frontal swing = unclear question. Coding is set at the start by asking the pendulum to "show me yes" and "show me no".

How to use online

Enter your closed question and start. The tool simulates the pendulum s swing. At the end it returns a yes, no or unclear answer and, optionally, a short advice sentence. The simulation is digital: not based on your body s ideomotor effect but on a random generator.

Tradition and uses

The pendulum is used in radiesthesia to locate energy spots, evaluate foods, choose between options, work on aura and chakras. Popular in France, Germany and Italy. On Tarotsi we only offer the "yes or no" consultation mode: the safest and most immediate.

FAQ

Is the pendulum a scientific tool?

No. Double-blind radiesthesia studies have not confirmed abilities above chance. It remains a symbolic and concentration tool.

Can I ask open questions?

Traditionally no: the pendulum works well only with closed questions of 2-3 outcomes. For open questions use tarot or I Ching.

What is radiesthesia?

A practice using pendulums, rods or instruments to seek alleged "energy radiation". Term coined in the 20th century: radiesthésie in French.
