Dominomancy is the divinatory practice that uses domino tiles as an oracle. A tile is drawn, the two values are read and interpreted according to a traditional table. It is a popular mancy halfway between cartomancy and numerology, simple to learn and portable.

Deck composition

The classic European domino set has 28 tiles, each divided into two quadrants reporting values from 0 (blank) to 6, in all possible combinations without repetition. In dominomancy the tile is interpreted by the sum of the two values, by their arrangement (which is "above" and which "below") and by the double (double six, double five, etc.).

Meanings

6/6 great fortune, full success. 6/5 unexpected love. 6/4 family conflict. 6/3 important journey. 6/2 message arriving. 6/1 surprise. 6/0 caution. 5/5 abundance and trust. 5/4 project succeeds. 5/3 social meetings. 5/2 economic difficulties. 5/1 unrequited love. 5/0 energy drop. 4/4 work stability. 4/3 home happiness. 4/2 temporary troubles. 4/1 small gift. 4/0 frustrating wait. 3/3 project maturing. 3/2 new friendship. 3/1 luck in small affairs. 3/0 good moment to recover. 2/2 emotional stability. 2/1 necessary dialogue. 2/0 introspection. 1/1 promising start. 1/0 preparation. 0/0 fertile void.

FAQ

Can I use my own dominoes?

Yes. Put the 28 tiles face down, shuffle by hand, draw one tile and read it with the table. Daily drawing is a small, very old rite.

Can I draw more tiles?

Tradition suggests one tile per day to avoid confusion. Some schools accept three tiles as past-present-future spread.

Is it linked to the domino game?

No, the game is something else. Dominomancy shares only the support. Its interpretive rules come from popular Italian, French and Central European cartomancy of the 18th-19th centuries.
