Konsultiere die mystischen Karten des Lenormand-Orakels

The Lenormand deck is a 19th-century cartomancy system of 36 very concrete, descriptive cards, each with a precise subject: the letter, the heart, the key, the dog, the ship, the garden, the scythe, the book. It is named after Marie Anne Lenormand (1772-1843), the famous French cartomancer consulted by Joséphine de Beauharnais. The "petit Lenormand" we know today was actually published after her death, inspired by her fame.

Composition

The deck has 36 cards numbered with a symbol each. Some decks also show the corresponding poker card (ace of hearts, ten of diamonds, etc.), legacy of its forerunner the 1799 German game "Spiel der Hoffnung". Subjects are concrete: rider, clover, ship, house, tree, clouds, snake, coffin, bouquet, scythe, whip, birds, child, fox, bear, stars, stork, dog, tower, garden, mountain, road, mice, heart, ring, book, letter, man, woman, lilies, sun, moon, key, fish, anchor, cross.

How it is read

Lenormand is read mainly in combinations: each card alone is descriptive (letter = message, ship = travel) but full meaning comes from groups of two, three, five or nine. The most famous spread is the Grand Tableau placing all 36 cards in an 8x4+4 grid and reading distances from the significator (man or woman).

How to use online

Enter your question, choose the number of cards (one, three, five or nine) and shuffle. The tool shows the drawn cards with number, subject and a combined reading. For the full Grand Tableau a dedicated layout is needed: start with smaller spreads for a synthetic reading.

FAQ

How many cards in the Lenormand?

Thirty-six. Historical 54-card decks (Grand Lenormand) exist but are rare.

Do I need to know every card meaning?

No. The tool provides a short meaning for each subject. For combinations consult the Lenormand entry in the glossary.

Is Lenormand more "truthful" than tarot?

No, just more descriptive. Answers look more concrete but remain symbolic: they do not offer greater predictive guarantees than other decks.
