Deutung
The Belline oracle is a French cartomancy deck of 53 cards conceived in the mid-19th century by the magus Edmond, whose posthumous book of readings was published by the cartomancer Belline (Marcel Belline, 1920-1998), who set its definitive structure. The deck combines planetary symbols (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) with thematic symbols (love, wealth, journey, illness) to offer concise and direct readings.
Composition
The 53 cards are ordered in seven planetary series, each with seven thematic cards (plus an extra card). Every card has a descriptive title: thoughts, compliments, sentiment, friends, obstacle, illness, separation, elevation, fortune, church, kiss, crossing, letter, child. There are different graphic versions; the most widespread is the 1960s reissue curated by Belline himself.
How to use online
Formulate the question, choose how many cards to draw (one, three or five) and shuffle. The tool shows the drawn cards with classic graphics and the interpretation combining planetary symbol and theme. For larger spreads you can use 7-card layouts (one per planet) or weekly spreads.
When it makes sense
The Belline is particularly appreciated for emotional and relational questions: its symbols are poetic and direct, giving quick answers. It works well for synthetic daily consultations (card of the day) and to explore a spiritual theme. For more narrative readings choose the traditional tarot; for closed questions the yes or no oracle.
FAQ
How many cards in the Belline deck?
Fifty-three: seven planetary series of seven cards plus some special cards.
Is it hard to learn?
Less than tarot: each card has a descriptive title and a small scene. The planet pairing adds nuances that come with practice.
Are reversed cards used?
Most Belline reading traditions do not consider reversed cards. The reading relies on combination and proximity.
